Upholstery Cleaning for Sofas, Sectionals & Chairs

Olsen Restoration Carpet Cleaning cleans fabric sofas, sectionals, loveseats, recliners, and upholstered chairs in homes across Snohomish, King, and Skagit counties from our base in Lake Stevens, WA. Before cleaning, we read the manufacturer’s cleaning code on the tag and check the fabric for colorfastness on a hidden area, then choose a method that piece can handle. Everyday soil, darkened arms and headrests, and many food and drink spots usually improve a lot. Some stains and deep odors have limits, and we tell you which is which before we start. We’re open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Call (425) 419-9949 for a free phone estimate, or send photos for a free exact quote.

Quick answer: can my couch be professionally cleaned?

Usually, yes. Most fabric furniture has a cleaning code on a tag under the cushions or on the frame. The code tells us what the fabric can tolerate:

No tag, or a tag you can’t read? That’s common with older or inherited furniture. We check the fabric on a hidden area and explain what we see before cleaning the whole piece.

What we clean

This page covers fabric upholstery. If you have leather furniture, call before booking and ask, because leather needs a different process than fabric.

Stains, pet accidents, and odors: what cleaning can and can’t do

Usually improves: dark body-oil areas on arms, headrests, and seat fronts; general dullness; pet hair and dander worked into the weave; many recent food and drink spots.

Depends on the fabric and history: older spills, coffee and wine, spots already scrubbed with household products, and water rings on S-code fabrics.

Often permanent: dye transfer from new jeans, bleach or sun fading, ink on delicate fabrics, and fabric that is worn, pilled, or torn. Cleaning can brighten these areas, but it can’t put color or fiber back.

Pet urine is the big one. When urine soaks through the fabric into the cushion foam, cleaning the fabric can improve the stain and smell without fully reaching the source. Sometimes the only complete fix is replacing the cushion insert. We would rather tell you that up front than promise a result the furniture can’t deliver. If pets are also affecting your carpet, see pet odor & stain carpet cleaning and pet hair & dander carpet cleaning.

How an upholstery visit works

  1. Tell us about the pieces. Seat count, cushion style, the fabric tag, and photos of the problem areas.
  2. Tag and fabric check. We confirm the cleaning code and check a hidden area for colorfastness and shrinkage risk.
  3. Pre-treat and clean. Heavy-use areas and spots get attention first, then the whole piece is cleaned so color and texture stay even.
  4. Drying guidance. Drying depends on the fabric, the method, air movement, and indoor humidity. In the damp Pacific Northwest fall and winter, running the heat or a fan helps. We’ll tell you when the piece is ready to use and when cushions can go back on.

Add upholstery to a carpet or rug cleaning visit

Many customers book the sofa together with the room it sits in. If you’re already planning carpet cleaning, stair carpet cleaning, or area rug cleaning, mention the furniture when you call so it’s included in the same quote. For allergy-sensitive households, allergy-friendly carpet cleaning covers the carpet side. Day-before tips are on how to prepare for carpet cleaning.

Upholstery cleaning FAQ

Do you clean couches and sectionals?

Yes. Olsen Restoration Carpet Cleaning cleans fabric sofas, sectionals, loveseats, recliners, and upholstered chairs in homes across Snohomish, King, and Skagit counties. We check the fabric’s cleaning code and colorfastness before cleaning. Call (425) 419-9949 for a free phone estimate.

What do the W, S, and X codes on my couch tag mean?

W means water-based cleaning is OK, S means solvent-only cleaning, W/S means either can work, and X means vacuum only. The code tells us which method the fabric can handle. If there is no tag, we check the fabric on a hidden area first.

Can you get pet urine smell out of a couch?

Often it improves a lot, but it depends on how far the urine went. If it soaked into the cushion foam, cleaning the fabric may not fully reach the source, and replacing the cushion insert is sometimes the only complete fix. Photos and pet history help us set honest expectations.

How long does a couch take to dry after cleaning?

It depends on the fabric, the cleaning method, air movement, and indoor humidity. Heat or a fan helps, especially in the damp fall and winter months. We give drying guidance for your specific piece at the visit.

Can you clean upholstery during the same visit as my carpet?

Yes. Tell us about the furniture when you request your carpet or area rug quote, and we will include it in the same free exact quote.

Do you publish upholstery prices?

No. Furniture size, cushion style, fabric code, and stain or odor work all change the scope, so we give a free exact quote from photos or a free phone estimate at (425) 419-9949.
